A proforma invoice works like an estimated invoice or preliminary bill for requesting payment for goods supplied from a loyal customer. The proforma invoice includes the total amount payable, description of goods, and other important details regarding the transaction.

The proforma invoice is not a legal document. It doesn’t put the customer under any obligation to make payment. Only a commercial invoice with a number enforces the customer to pay.
